The public will suffer as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Stubbornly, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/articles\/2012\/02\/22\/2012-3989\/rewards-and-awards-for-information-relating-to-violations-of-internal-revenue-laws\">IRS rejected calls for a common sense approach <\/a>to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qui-tam-litigation.com\/lawyer-attorney-1809845.html\">rewarding tax whistleblowers<\/a>, as it refused to modify a proposed rule that narrowly defines the categories of cases that should justify awards to whistleblowers.<\/p>\n<p>At issue is what Congress meant by the term &#8220;collected proceeds&#8221;&#8211;an undefined phrase in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whistleblowerlawyerblog.com\/new_irs_whistleblower_reward_s_2\/\">the 2006 tax whistleblower law<\/a>.
