The new provisions took effect on December 20, 2006, and yet so far they are locate on the web.  <\/p>\n<p>We hope it is helpful to you to find the new IRS Whistleblower Rewards amendments here, in the amended version of the statute:<\/p>\n<p><strong>26 U.S.C. \u00a7 7623.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>(a) In general.&#8211;The Secretary, under regulations prescribed by the Secretary, is authorized to pay such sums as he deems necessary for&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>(1) detecting underpayments of tax, or<br \/>\n(2) detecting and bringing to trial and punishment persons guilty of violating the internal revenue laws or conniving at the same,<\/p>\n<p>in cases where such expenses are not otherwise provided for by law.
