{"id":32677,"date":"2010-09-10T17:13:12","date_gmt":"2010-09-10T21:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/wordpress\/reporting_reduces_medical_erro\/"},"modified":"2024-12-17T15:50:04","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T20:50:04","slug":"reporting-reduces-medical-erro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.finchmccranie.com\/blog\/reporting-reduces-medical-erro\/","title":{"rendered":"Reporting Reduces Medical Errors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Acts of medical malpractice are often hidden by the secrecy afforded hospitals and health care providers by various state laws which make these matters confidential and immune from discovery by the public.<\/p>\n<p>In an effort to reduce these sometimes deadly errors, the state of Indiana initiated a method of publicly tracking preventable medical errors. In just the fourth year of reporting, Indiana hospitals and surgery centers reported more than a 10 percent decrease in errors between 2008 and 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana\u2019s Medical Error Reporting System requires hospitals, surgery centers, abortion clinics and birthing centers to report \u201cnever events.\u201d These are medical errors that should never occur.
