Yesterday, the FDA announced a recall of the potentially dangerous produce.<\/p>\n<p>Escherichia coli (abbreviated as E. coli) are a large and diverse group of bacteria. Although most strains of E. coli are harmless, others can be extremely harmful.  Strains of  E. coli can cause diarrhea, urinary tract infections, respiratory illness,  pneumonia, and other illnesses.<\/p>\n<p>The lettuce has been recalled by Freshway Foods, a closely held company based in Sidney, Ohio, according to the FDA press release.
