Political Corruption
Our firm has considerable experience in political
corruption cases, both in defending and prosecuting
public officials and executives. Three of the firm’s
partners are former federal prosecutors.
Our clients have ranged from a United States Congressman
to many business executives. Our attorneys have
represented prominent business persons accused of
paying illegal campaign contributions and other
alleged misconduct involving government officials.
Two of our partners successfully prosecuted political
corruption cases as part of the Independent Counsel
investigation of the Department of Housing and Urban
Development in the 1990s. These included the successful
prosecution of the former Secretary of the Interior,
James Watt.
Using our broad experience, our partners have
helped businesses and individuals avoid indictments
in federal and state investigations for participating
in alleged political corruption.
Our firm has tried before juries substantial cases
involving political corruption, and has successfully
prevented the incarceration of various executives
under investigation by the United States Department
of Justice.
Our attorneys bring “real world” experience
to those clients caught up in federal or state investigations
alleging illegal kickbacks, illegal campaign contributions,
or schemes to defraud the taxpayers of the honest
services of public officials.
